Systems Administrator 2008

Systems Administrator – £22k - £26k (depending on experience and size of infrastructure supported)

Responsibilities may include:

Multisite and remote user support and administration of the ICT systems.
Ensure the smooth running of the computer systems.
To analyse any computer needs, purchase and implement those.
Administer servers including user accounts and backup facilities (including disaster recovery).
Creation of bespoke systems using Unix/Linux scripts.
Possibly have implemented a new site.
Product testing and documentation as required.

Skills will include:

Higher Level Systems Administrator – £26k - £30k

Responsibilities may include:

Maintain client computer systems across multiple platforms and a variety of windows and/ or UNIX based operating systems.
Dealing with problems, monitoring and recommending actions to be taken.
Capacity planning and writing automated support scripts to monitor for potential problems.
1st, 2nd and 3rd line support roles.
Sorting out day to day problems to implementing change requirements on the clients severs.
Installing software, making configuration changes.
Carrying out and documenting disaster recovery tests for clients.
Recommending changes and creating change requests when required.
Visit the client’s site and perform a due diligence on the systems and make recommendations for the take-on of the client computer systems.
Dealing with Software suppliers and hardware companies.
