Systems Administrator 2008
Systems Administrator – £22k - £26k (depending on experience and size of infrastructure supported)
Responsibilities may include:
- Multisite and remote user support and administration of the ICT systems.
- Ensure the smooth running of the computer systems.
- To analyse any computer needs, purchase and implement those.
- Administer servers including user accounts and backup facilities (including disaster recovery).
- Creation of bespoke systems using Unix/Linux scripts.
- Possibly have implemented a new site.
- Product testing and documentation as required.
Skills will include:
- Self motivated.
- Attention to detail.
- Good customer facing experience, excellent communication skills.
- Mentally agile, keen to learn.
Higher Level Systems Administrator – £26k - £30k
Responsibilities may include:
- Maintain client computer systems across multiple platforms and a variety of windows and/ or UNIX based operating systems.
- Dealing with problems, monitoring and recommending actions to be taken.
- Capacity planning and writing automated support scripts to monitor for potential problems.
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support roles.
- Sorting out day to day problems to implementing change requirements on the clients severs.
- Installing software, making configuration changes.
- Carrying out and documenting disaster recovery tests for clients.
- Recommending changes and creating change requests when required.
- Visit the client’s site and perform a due diligence on the systems and make recommendations for the take-on of the client computer systems.
- Dealing with Software suppliers and hardware companies.
