A team from Cardiff-based IT recruitment company has reached new heights in its efforts for leading children’s rights and advocacy charity Tros Gynnal.
The team of nine from Micross Recruitment and its sister company Micross IT walked over 12km while ascending and descending 802m of Fan Brycheiniog in the Brecon Beacons to raise money for the worthwhile cause which was formed in 2002 when “The Children’s Society” withdrew from Wales.
Securing more than £1,000 worth of sponsorship from friends, colleagues and Clients, the money raised by Micross will go towards a range of projects, training and campaigning. Last year Tros Gynnal helped over 1,500 children and young people throughout Wales and has so far helped keep over 100 children with their families.
Helen Nutton, Head of recruitment at Micross Recruitment, said: “Micross would like to thank everyone that sponsored us and supported us in our efforts. I’m very proud of the team that took part, they were brilliant. Everyone demonstrated an overriding sense of courage in the face of adversity as the walk got steeper and the clouds hung lower! But the rain held off and we all made it down in one piece, albeit with aching legs.
“Thanks also to Steve, our Mountain Leader, and Sebastian from Tros Gynnal, who organized the event.” Sebastian Morgan-Clare, head of fundraising at Tros Gynnal, said: “The money Micross raised has taken on extra significance in the current financial climate. It’s hard won money and will stay with us in Wales and be used to support some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children here. The team showed Great Spirit and some are so enthused that they are going to join in with our Extreme Events next year! ”
